The concrete walls never seemed closer than when Sex With A Terrorist unleashes a seven-minute crush down with claustrophobic areas of effect through malicious healing. Over only four tracks, Demo by Sex With A Terrorist carves into the earth in the same way that a missile would, striking fast and leaving not much standing in the wake.

Having members from Regional Justice Center and Self Defense Family as the basis for operations, Sex With A Terrorist is a rhetorical shout into the hardcore wastes. Opening with “LIST OF SHIT I DO NOT GIVE A FUCK ABOUT,” Demo spends a majority of the time in the pits diving and running through fools in the way. Arms outstretched as if it was a living recreation of Christ The Redeemer, Sex With A Terrorist has phenomenal range for being such an incredibly short record.

The snap of guitar strings and percussion are the bread and butter here while the main entrée is the lyrical onslaughts that describe, “No arguments just strawmen tropes and tripe. No ethical consumption of any type. No hope for a head picked before it’s ripe, no chance that’s me we’re gonna fucking fight.” The crosshairs align and for once, the unity in hardcore is more about getting everyone involved in being crushed under the boots of war.

Especially on “UTOPIAN DELUSIONS” where the almost hopeful build-up is immediately washed away and turned into a one-two step of catchy, but engraining hits. Describing over shattering hi-hats and blitzing strings, “Your idea of sides that’s fucking dead, and you’ll be dead too. You’ll be dead.” As the punishing continues, eventually there is talk of “I didn’t make you a fucking fool. But through the glory of gunpowder, I can have you removed.”

The only real hope for a guttural rebuke is “SCREENSHOT HARDCORE” where similar to the latter half of My War by Black Flag, the sluggish delivery is reminiscent of a lumbering giant that is nihilistic and reflective of detached behavior. The instrumentation devolves into a slur where the random guitar plucks and pokes at the strings feel unable to be correlated into meaning. The belligerence falls to eventual complacency as a hardcore swan song through funeral marches.

But that emotional dissonance holds to be the underlying truth with Sex With A Terrorist. Nothing seems to shatter the ground more than the rambunctious shovels that with each stab into the dirt, cover the listener more and more until they are submerged in a shallow grave. Begging and pleading goes nowhere as the makeshift coffin sinks deeper and deeper into burning nothing.
